Review | LUSH Honey I Washed My Hair Shampoo Bar

The semester is over and I have two to three weeks of relaxation before my two classes for Summer Term start in beginning May. It’s time for me to kick back, set my textbooks and notes to the side and enjoy some well deserved time with events, activities and alone time!

On that note, it also leaves me with more than enough time for me to deliver another product review to you! This will also feature another product from LUSH!

This lovely beauty here is the Honey I Washed My Hair Shampoo Bar (great name, by the way!)! It’s available online and in a nearby store for $9.95.

I’ve been wanting to give LUSH’s shampoo bars a shot for a long time. The ingredient list scared me a little because there was a sulfate present and I tend to avoid sulfates in shampoos. I eventually decided to purchase the bar to try it out on my kinky afro on my next wash day.

Simply put, this shampoo bar is pretty good! It didn’t take much swiping or rubbing to get a bubbly lather going. Just make sure your hair is sopping wet and the shampoo bar is wet too! The circular shape of this bar made it easy to hold in the palm of my hand so using this was no issue.

The scent is something else entirely. It reminds me of a candy store filled with caramel and toffee delights for children and adults! It’s probably due to the honey in the bar, but I find myself randomly getting the bar from the bathroom and sniffing it because the scent is irresistable!

On the other hand, this shampoo bar cleaned my hair very well. . .with one drawback. The lather doesn’t make my hair feel stripped, but when I rinse it out, my hair does feel stiff afterwards. So far, I tend to get this problem every time I use this bar. It’s probably due to the sulfate in it, but I find that an ACV rinse removes the problem completely. But this problem might turn some people off from giving the bar several tries on their hair.

I also noticed that many have said that their LUSH shampoo bars crumble apart after a few uses. To combat this, I never leave this shampoo bar in the shower and I always store it on a wooden soap tray in a dry area so the bar can dry completely. This prevents the bar from crumbling apart and I can get more uses out of it.

It’s a great bar and if you like LUSH, you can give this bar a try! I just recommend getting a wooden soap tray instead of the tin that LUSH recommends and some apple cider vinegar for a rinse afterwards.

Now excuse me while I enter Relaxation Mode and rest. Until next time!
